Staff members of the Department of Physical Problems of Materials Science (No. 9), Alexey Nikolaevich Suchkov and Ilya Vladimirovich Kozlov, took part in the seminar. Students and graduates of the department, Nikita Evgenievich Fedyanin and Bogdan Gennadievich Butrim, also took part and gained hands-on experience in the production of bulk amorphous alloys. The seminar was organised by Skoltech scientist and department graduate Boris Sergeevich Voloskov. Akihisa Inoue (h-index = 146) is a Japanese physicist, DSc (Eng.), Professor and Head of the “Advanced Energy-Efficient Materials” laboratory at NUST MISIS. He is one of the world’s leading specialists in metallurgy and materials science and was among the pioneers of a new class of materials — bulk amorphous metallic glasses.
The seminar discussed the prospects for using bulk metallic glasses, which are currently undergoing active industrial implementation worldwide and are regarded as one of the key materials for precision engineering, medical equipment and the energy sector of the future.
