Department staff successfully present their research at a prestigious conference of the Ural School of Metal Scientists and Heat Treatment Specialists

From 2 to 6 February 2026, the XXVIII International Scientific and Technical Conference of the Ural School of Metal Scientists and Heat Treatment Specialists was held in Novosibirsk Region. The event, traditionally held in the Ural region, was for the first time hosted by the capital of Siberia this year. The change of venue marked a significant date — the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding materials scientist Professor Leonid Innokentievich Tushinsky, founder of the materials science research school at NSTU NETI. The conference brought together leading scientists and young researchers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Tomsk and other research centres across the country. Our university and department were ably represented at the forum by Associate Professor Alexander Alexandrovich Ivannikov, Associate Professor Alexey Nikolaevich Suchkov and Assistant Lecturer Sofia Mikhailovna Terekhova. The department’s young scientists were not only among the participants but were also named best in their competition categories, confirming the high standard of research conducted at our department. In the poster competition among young scientists, Alexander Ivannikov’s presentation, “Ensuring vacuum tightness of Al₂O₃/29NK joints brazed with a rapidly quenched Cu-Ti ribbon filler alloy”, was awarded a first-degree diploma. The panel of experts highly praised the practical significance of the work for creating reliable vacuum-tight assemblies in instrument engineering. In the oral presentation section, Sofia Terekhova achieved a brilliant result. Her presentation, “Development of Ag-Cu-Ti and Ag-Cu-Zr filler alloys for joining alumina ceramics with 29NK alloy”, was also awarded a first-degree diploma for best oral presentation. Taking part in a conference of this calibre, held to mark the anniversary of Professor L.I. Tushinsky, gave the department’s staff an opportunity not only to present their research results but also to strengthen scientific ties and preserve the traditions of the Siberian materials science school. Congratulations to Alexander Alexandrovich and Sofia Mikhailovna on their well-deserved victory, and we wish them further scientific achievements!
