On 15 October 2026, the All-Russian scientific and practical conference “Brazing-2026” (Paika-2026) took place at the Media Centre of NUST MISIS. It was organised by the S.N. Lotsmanov Union of Professional Brazers together with NUST MISIS. This was the first conference held by the Union on brazing technologies, equipment and materials, and its opening marked the Union’s 20th anniversary. The programme included 19 talks by specialists from universities, research centres and industry. Topics covered high-temperature brazing in power engineering, brazing of aluminium alloys and hard-metal tools, and induction and vacuum brazing equipment.
Two lecturers of the Department gave talks:
- Ivan V. Fedotov, PhD, associate professor, “Application of amorphous and nanostructured alloys for brazing”,
- Alexander A. Ivannikov, PhD, associate professor, “Silver-free active brazing of alumina ceramics to 29NK alloy with Cu–Ti filler metals”.
The first talk discussed how amorphous and nanostructured filler metals differ from conventional ones and where they are worth using. Such filler metals are produced by ultra-rapid quenching of the melt as a thin flexible ribbon of uniform composition, which makes them easy to dose precisely and gives a uniform joint.
The second talk showed how VK100 alumina ceramics can be joined to 29NK kovar without silver-based filler metals, using a Cu-28Ti ribbon with a copper interlayer. The research was supported by the Russian Science Foundation, grant No. 25-19-00778, https://rscf.ru/en/project/25-19-00778/.
The organisers will publish an electronic collection of the conference papers.
